Learning Life Drawing from Academic Books

You know the chaps who run the Croquis Cafe? Well they’ve also uploaded some books on drawing, painting and anatomy from the Edwardian era and before. They come from the academic tradition when people were taught how to draw the old fashioned way, where students were expected to draw in proportion and to have an understanding of things like anatomy. Very unfashionable and these days a little dry but anybody who is interested in learning life drawing should dip into books like these periodically. They can reinforce what has been learnt elsewhere and they do have a charm all of their own. Here’s the link
