It’s a new term, but it’s not normal

The Autumn Term

All things being equal this would be the start of the Autumn term. Equal, of course, is what things are not: this shambledemic has driven a cart and horses backward through the bramble bush of our Autumn term. Don’t even mention ‘New’ or ‘Normal’. But, we are artists and artists are resourceful creative problem solvers who relish a good challenge. Challenge accepted: may we put before you our modified Autumn term?

Claire Haward continues to teach oil painting using Zoom on Mondays all day and Friday mornings
Alex Tzavaras has adopted Zoom with gusto and his oil painting and portraiture course starts again on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings
David Sawyer is out there in the mists and mellow fruitfulness teaching landscape painting on variable days
Daisy Perkins delivers our Introduction to Life Drawing through Zoom on Thursday evenings.

Now is the time to sign up for these excellent courses, I cannot emphasise enough that artists are having extremely positive experiences using Zoom to learn.

On top we have our drop in sessions:

Monday Evening Bad Drawing Group with a life model – run by Holly(starts next week)
Tuesday Evening Life Drawing – run by Freya
Wednesday Afternoon Portraiture
Saturday Morning Life Drawing and Painting

Back in the studio?

All of the above are available through Zoom but starting on Saturday we will be admitting a small number of artists back into our studio for drop-ins. We have done a great deal of work to make this safe for you, transparent aerosol screens, hand washing facilities and an easy-clean streamlined studio environment. The first trial session will be this Saturday. If you’d like to come along to the studio could you drop us an email and we will send you a link where you can book.

Pleinairists with David Sawyer RBA

David Sawyer has a spotlight in Plein Air Today where he talks about painting the Labyrinth Garden in Ruskin Park, our outdoor studio. David continues to paint en plein air as Autumn draws in.

It looks like Friday is going to be the only outdoor painting day this week

If you are interested in painting along with David the Cost is £35 per session, which lasts approximately three hours. We use our Pleinairists Whatsapp Group to coordinate.

These are small groups where social distancing is maintained throughout.

Sign up here or if you’d just like to included on the Pleinairists Whatsapp group – drop us an email.
