For many artists colour is at the heart of what they do. We can live without colour but we would never feel alive. Colour is the juice of visual experience and yet it has an ephemeral quality, hard to pin down, constantly changing.

Although colour is mysterious we can find reliable strategies for working with it. This workshop will give you the basics of colour theory and a set of principles to work with so that you will be able to accurately mix the colours that you see.

We will work with oil paint and paint from some simple still life setups.

Simon will demonstrate and tutor you throughout the day.

  • 10.00am Arrival and setup.
  • 11.30am coffee break
  • 1.00pm Lunch
